Its easier said than done to always find a calm way to handle any situation but its not impossible. Many times we let our anger get the best of us and this becomes the norm. We need to press the reset button and get back to finding healthier ways to cope with anger. Here are some more appropriate ways to express anger.
- Focus on taking deep breathes before attempting to resolve the issue, this will help take your attention off of it for a little while and help you think about how you can resolve it more peacefully.
- Take time to think about the issue and some helpful ways to resolve it rather than trying to do so while you are angry. You may even try sleeping on it for a night.
- Find an outlet that helps relax you or talk to a trusted individual about the situation. This will help you to have clearer thoughts about how to resolve the issue.
- Join something that allows you to channel that anger elsewhere. It could be the gym, a yoga class or sports. Whatever you decide, stick with it, consistency is important to establishing a healthy way of coping.
